George to fete Presidents' Day

| February 14, 2014 5:00 AM

GEORGE - All of the Columbia Basin is invited to George's celebration of Presidents Day on Monday, Feb. 17.

Presidents Day is set aside to honor the USA's first president, George Washington, who won independence, and the 16th president, Abraham Lincoln, who preserved the union.

"Presidents Day is a time for folks to come visit at the George Community Hall and find out what the neighbors have been up to," organizer Debby Kooy said. "It is also a time to honor our veterans, have lunch and maybe a piece of that Presidential Birthday Cake."

There will be live music by George's own Homegrown String Band. The celebration will go from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.
