Big Bend edges Hawks

PASCO - The Big Bend Runnin' Vikes scored a crucial league win Wednesday after edging Columbia Basin, 91-90

BBCC (7-4, 18-7) is now only one game out of first place in the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges (NWAACC) East region.

Big Bend held a narrow two-point advantage at halftime and was able to hold off Columbia Basin in the second half to secure the one-point win.

Sophomore guard Brendan Westendorf scored a game-high 31 points and led the team with seven rebounds. Westendorf was efficient in his scoring, shooting 67 percent from the field and 90 percent from the free throw line.

Fellow sophomore Victor Aguero added 23 points and three assists.

Freshman guard Donavin Wright scored 10 points off the bench.

Lady Vikings fall to No. 1 CBC

Big Bend (6-5, 16-9) was unable to upset the No. 1 team in the NWAACC and fell to CBC, 53-78.

The Hawks have won 15 games in a row and are the first team in the NWAACC to clinch a playoff berth. The loss to Columbia Basin ends the Vikings' three-game win streak.

Freshman guard Aubrie Vale and sophomore forward Jessica Sorensen scored 12 points each. Freshman guard/forward Riley Jemmett added 10 points.
