Moses Lake second at districts

ELLENSBURG - After an undefeated regular season, Moses Lake boys swimming took second place at the district meet in Ellensburg.

Richland placed first with 505 points while Moses Lake recorded 370.5 points.

Brenden Eslick won the 200-yard freestyle and the 100-yard butterfly with times of 1 minute, 44.92 seconds and 53.38 seconds, respectively. Eslick was also named Columbia Basin Big Nine swimmer of the year.

Both times and places qualified Eslick for state.

The relay team of Zack Johnston, Madison Molitor, Kaelan Connacher and Brenden Eslick set district records in the 200-yard freestyle relay and 400-yard freestyle relay with times of 1 minute, 29.81 seconds and 3 minutes, 16.33 seconds, respectively.

Johnston also set a school record in the 500-yard freestyle after recording a time of 4 minutes, 47.89 seconds.

Molitor placed second in the 50-yard freestyle and qualified for state with a time of 23.10 seconds.

Tristiane Randall scored 344.40 points in the diving competition, which earned him second place and a trip to state.

Connacher took second in the 100-yard freestyle, which qualified him for state.

Quincy took 11th place for the 2A classification with 41 points.

Riley Beaumont had a strong showing, taking third in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 58.09 seconds.

Russell Silk placed 14th and 15th in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle, respectively.

The 4A state swim meet is scheduled for Feb. 21 and 22 at the King County Aquatics Center in Federal Way.
