EPHRATA - A Moses Lake man who sexually abused a girl for years was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison last week.

Stephen Michael Tison, 47, has been incarcerated since October when he was arrested and charged with raping the girl on numerous occasions over a span of at least six years.

Grant County Superior Court Judge Evan E. Sperline followed a state mandatory minimum sentencing because the victim was younger than 15.

The victim wrote a letter to the court stating her abuse started at age 6.

"I've never been able to be a child. I am afraid to be anywhere that there are men around," she wrote in part.

The victim's mother agreed with her daughter stating that she hoped he would never get out of prison.

"Steve took something from her that she will never get back and for that I can never forgive him."
