Aileen Hope Los

Aileen Hope Los, a Moses Lake resident since 2008, passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 28, 2014, surrounded by loving family. Alhambra, California to the late Manly Anderson and Mildred Lockhart Alderson. She was raised and educated in Alhambra, California, graduating from Alhambra High School in 1942. Aileen was the middle child of three, and is survived by her older sister Lucille Alderson of Kingman, Arizona, and her younger brother Manly Alderson, Jr. of Irvine, California.

Aileen married Peter Los in 1945. They made their home in a quiet neighborhood in Alhambra, California. Aileen was a devoted mother and homemaker to their five children in 1940's through the 1960's. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and gardening, league bowling and going to the YWCA with friends to swim, but her most treasured memories were weekend beach, mountain, and desert outings with her family.

In the late 1960's she moved to Portland, Oregon. She often spoke of one of her favorite events there, the Portland Rose Festival held each year in June. She was employed as a sales clerk for several different department stores until she became a bookkeeper for a fabric wholesaler in Portland. While living in Portland she learned to ski and loved it. She especially loved to ski at Mt. Hood, and with her daughter Dot (Fran) and son-in-law Jeff at Lake Tahoe, California. She'd talk of her wonderful trips to Hawaii visiting her daughter Sug, and to the Grand Canyon with her sister Luci.

She moved to Bremerton, Washington in the late 1980's to be closer to family, where most of her grandchildren were living. The weekend drives back and forth from Oregon to Washington were getting old-and so was the old rambler. She loved to paint and was a talented artist. She also looked forward to her daughter Erin's visits, also a talented artist. Together they would enjoy the local art exhibits. She spent a lot of time in her garden, especially tending to her roses among other beautiful flowers. She had quite the green thumb and would often be working in her yard late into the evening until it was too dark to see.

She was always active, enjoying life. She loved to laugh and will be remembered for her sense of humor. At times she reminded others of the old cartoon character "Mr. Magoo." She had a love of music, especially the Big Band Era and music from the 1930's, 1940's. and 1950's. The Lawrence Welk show was one she rarely missed. She loved to spend time with friends, and was a member of Bible Study Fellowship International. She often spoke of how important God's Word was to her and all the treasured friends she made during the years she attended. Her desire was for all her family to come to know her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as their Savior too. She often spoke of her faith and her trust in God.

In 2008, she moved to Moses Lake where she would be closer to her son Tom and daughter-in-law Carolyn. She loved living in Moses Lake Senior Living on Patton Boulevard and made many friends there. It wasn't long before she needed more care and was moved to Summerwood Alzheimer's Special Care Center. She was very happy there as well and received excellent care. In time, she needed even more care and was moved to Lake Ridge Solana Alzheimer Care Center, where she also received loving, excellent care. We are very grateful to all the care givers and staff at these three facilities. Please accept our heartfelt thanks to each one of you for all you did each day for Aileen. We truly appreciate you and can't thank you enough. An extra special thank you goes to the staff at Lake Ridge who made her final days more comfortable and who gave her the loving care she needed. Aileen, our mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, we love you and will miss you.
