Reader weighs in on health care

| February 7, 2014 5:00 AM

There was a comment made on January 18, 2014 in the on-line "Letters to the Editor" in response to one written by Mr. Hudson that expressed concerns regarding the Affordable Health Care Act. It read in part, "No-one is destroying America's health care system by making sure care is available to all ..."

Having "Health Care Insurance" is not the same as having actual health care. The "AHCA" will destroy good health care as will be seen by the number of doctors who leave the profession, or change their practices to "cash only." If no doctor is available to help you, your "insurance" is worthless!

It is difficult to get accurate information as to the cost of changing from medical billing coding using ICD-9-CM (approx. 13,600 codes) to ICD-10-CM (approx. 69,000 codes). The cost and time for doctors and hospitals to do medical coding and billing reduce the actual care that can be given to patients. Do you want a doctor concerned about healing your broken bone, or removing cancer cells, or worrying about whether the right coding on medical reimbursement forms will allow payment for services?

Excessive and idiotic regulations imposed by the "AHCA" will drive doctors and hospitals out of business. Some people may deny this, but many will "wake up" when they discover that they have lost actual medical care!

Fewer doctors means only the "one-percenters" will afford actual health care. Populations will drop, less environmental harm, less "global warming"! Die young, save the planet! What could be better? Do the Georgia Guidestones predict the future world population?
