Royal boys drop game to Othello

ROYAL CITY - League or non-league, the Royal High boys basketball season continued to be a tough proposition last week.
The Knights fell to Othello, 56-51, after failing to hold a late lead for the third straight game. On Friday, the Knights gave up a half-time lead and lost a SCAC East contest, 55-38.
The Othello loss was the most heartbreaking. The Knights led 23-13 after one quarter, 34-24 at the half and 40-36 after three periods.
The highlight for the Knights was the play of Chase Christensen. While the team shot 31 percent from the field, he shot 46 percent for 17 points. He added seven rebounds and two steals.
Riley Lefler scored 10 points, grabbed three rebounds and made four steals. Kaden Jenks scored eight points, Teddy Mead corralled eight rebounds and Jonathan Partida picked off four steals.
In the game with River View, the Knights led 11-10 after one period and 25-19 after two. Then they went cold as the Panthers raced away with a 17-4 third quarter.
The River View defense shut down Christensen, holding him seven points after several double-digit nights. The team shot 20 percent from the field.
Aaron Johnson and Lefler led the team with 10 and nine points respectively. Lefler led with seven rebounds, Christensen and Mead picked off five each and Partida grabbed four.
