Runnin' Vikes edged by Bigfoot, 77-79

SPOKANE - Big Bend Community College has had an up and down start to its league schedule.

After dropping a close game to Spokane, 77-79, the Runnin' Vikes are now 4-3 in the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges (NWAACC) East region and are 2-3 in their last five games.

Big Bend and Spokane were virtually even throughout Wednesday's game, with the Bigfoot only edging the Runnin' Vikes by one point in each half.

In a game where one mistake can lead to a loss, Big Bend turned the ball over 17 times leading to 19 Spokane points.

Sophomore guard Brendan Westendorf scored a team-high 23 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Freshman forward Sean McDonnell recorded a double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds.

Lady Vikings fall of Spokane

A team-high 16 points and nine rebounds from sophomore forward Jessica Sorensen wasn't enough as the Vikings dropped their game against Spokane, 57-69.

It was the team's third loss in a row and fourth in the last five games. Big Bend struggled from the behind the arc, shooting only 17.9 percent.

Freshman guard/forward Riley Jemmett added 14 points and six rebounds.

Spokane's Riley Holsinger dominated the game with 31 points, 15 rebounds, four blocks and seven assists.
