The Board of Supervisors for Grant County Conservation District has one elected position available.

The Board of Supervisors for Grant County Conservation District has one elected position available.  This position is unpaid, volunteer two-year term ending in 2017 with an average time commitment of 3-10 hours per month.  The position is open to anyone who is a land owner/registered voter within the Grant County Conservation District boundaries.

The election to fill the elected position will be held on February 10, 2015 at the Grant County Conservation District Office 1107 South Juniper Drive, Moses Lake, WA from 1:00pm to 5:00pm. All land owners/registered voters residing within the Grant County Conservation District are eligible to vote.  Absentee ballots are available upon request for eligible voters, but must be requested on or before 5:00 PM on January 20, 2015.  To find out if you are within the Grant County Conservation District boundaries contact the Grant County Conservation District at 509-765-9618.

Board members and associate supervisors direct the district’s focus and work.  This includes working with staff on district business as well as developing the district’s mission statement and plant to achieve it.  The district works with youth, agencies, industry and most importantly farmers to accomplish conservation of natural resources.  The current program emphasizes water and air quality issues, soil loss, education, and youth activities.  All district meetings are open to the public.

Applications may be picked up at Grant County Conservation District office: 1107 South Juniper Drive, Moses Lake, WA 98837.  An application may be requested by calling the Washington State Conservation Commission at 360-407-6200. Filing deadline for candidates is January 13, 2015 by 5:00 pm.

Conservation Districts of Washington State are governed by RCW 89.08.
