Republicans elect new leadership

MOSES LAKE - The Grant County Republican Central Committee chose new leadership at its biennial organizational meeting in Ephrata on Dec. 13.

According to the new chairman, Sid Gregory, the purpose of the Central Committee is to promote the election of Republicans to office.

"The Central Committee works to attract voters and volunteers to the Grant County Republican Party, as well as to encourage grassroots participation to plan, organize, administer, and finance the Grant County Republican Party," he said.

The Central Committee elects officers every two years to serve on the Grant County Republican Party's Executive Board and to adopt the rules that govern the organization. Those elected for the next two years are:

The Central Committee is made up of elected Precinct Committee Officers and serves as the governing body for the Grant County Republican Party. The term of office is two years, commencing the first day of December. There are presently 30 PCOs who meet quarterly.

Precinct Committee Officers (PCOs) are responsible for conducting caucuses in their precincts during election years to elect delegates to the Republican County Convention who in turn will elect delegates to the State Republican Convention and then delegates to the National Republican Convention.

PCOs are also responsible for canvassing their precincts to update names, addresses and the number of eligible voters per household, and to assist those eligible to register to vote.
