Names released in Wilson Creek standoff

WILSON CREEK — Phillip M. Pearson, 79, of Wilson Creek, is in jail after reportedly removing his ex-wife Amy Pearson, 77, of Soap Lake, from a care facility and barricading himself in his Wilson Creek home for more than four hours on Christmas day. No one was injured.

Phillip Pearson reportedly removed Amy Pearson without authorization from staff at McKay Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Soap Lake, according to a prepared statement from the sheriff's office. McKay provides long-term care for patients in a nursing home setting.

Amy Pearson was receiving “end of life” care at McKay, prompting the facility to notify the sheriff's office, according to police records.

She was reported Friday in stable condition and receiving treatment at McKay, Soap Lake Police Department Officer Shawn Donnelly said.

Neither Amy Pearson or the staff at McKay asked Phillip Pearson to remove her from the facility, Donnelly said.

Phillip Pearson was arrested and booked into the Grant County Jail for kidnapping and a DUI warrant on Thursday.

It started about 2:30 the Grant County Sheriff's Office, Soap Lake Police Department and Moses Lake Regional Tactical Response Team (TRT) responded to a residence in the 200 block of Fourth Street, in Wilson Creek.

After four hours, the TRT conducted a forced entry into the house and took Phillip Pearson into custody without incident.
