ROYAL CITY - The Royal High School alumni wrestling matches, a new fund raising concept for The Royal High School wrestling team, are set for their inaugural next Monday, Dec. 29.

If you are a graduate of Royal High and wrestled and have been feeling like donning your singlet again, contact high school coach Randy Miller.

If you are a Royal High School wrestling alumnus or know of someone who is, please contact Coach Miller at: rmiller@royal.wednet.edu.

The matches will get under way at 6 p.m. In addition to raising funds for the program, the matches are intended as holiday entertainment.

Alumni will be matched according to current weight. The matches will be three rounds of one minute each with the clock running.

"This event will bring back some old wrestling moves, get guys back on the mat, and celebrate all the great moments from the past," Miller said.

Please note your name, high school graduation date, weight wrestled at, current weight, accomplishments, etc. in your emails to Miller.

"The matches will be very low key so no one has to re-injure those old broken bones, not to mention the need to be back to work the next day," Miller said.

Participants will be able to call a time-out at any time.

"We want this to be fun, sort of like a class reunion," Miller said.

The Royal Wrestling Team will be collecting donations at this event to pay for the program's new "Wall of Champions" sign in the wrestling room and work-out equipment.

"We hope that you can join us on this night and bring some laughs and excitement to the mat," Miller said.
