Students of the Month named at Royal High School for October

ROYAL CITY - The educational staff at Royal High School has selected the October students of the month. They are freshman Noelia Juarez, sophomore Ariana Cruz, junior Gricelda Toribio and senior Riley Lefler.

Teachers voted for the students off of a list of nominations compiled by Counselor Mark Kondo. They were considered on the basis of several character traits, including academics and citizenship.

Noelia is the daughter of Enrique and Silvia Juarez. Her favorite class is English with teacher Mario Godoy.

"Mi Corazon es Tuyo (My Heart is Yours) is Noelia's favorite television show. She loves to eat empanadas and play basketball and soccer.

Noelia's advice is: Stay in school because lots of people wish to be able to go to school, and they can't.

Ariana's parents are Alberto and Rosa Cruz. Her favorite movie is "Alice in Wonderland", and she loves to sing in choir and eat Caesar Salad.

Ariana likes writing music, clogging, playing guitar and shooting pictures. Her favorite saying is: "Come on people now, smile on you brother, everybody get together, try to love one another right now."

Gricelda, a new student from Mexico, is the daughter of Carolina Villavicencio. She likes the movie "Bajo La Misma Luna (Under the Same Moon)" and the televison show "Sabadazo (Super Saturay)".

Gricelda's inpiration comes from her mother. Her advice to others is: Nothing in life is impossible.

Riley's parents are Rex and Maria Lefler. His favorite movie is "Glory Road", and he loves ceramics class.

Riley enjoys spaghetti, playing basketball and listening to music. His favorite song is "Red Ragtop" by Tim McGraw.

Famed UCLA hoops coach John Wooden's advice: "Be quick, but don't hurry," is Riley's favorite saying.

Riley draws his inspiration from his mother "Because she came to America and had to learn English while going to school and playing basketball."
