To the Moses Lake City Council members

| December 12, 2014 3:00 AM

I have lived in Moses Lake more than 20 years and love the area and people, however just after retiring in the last few years I keep hearing and seeing more taxes due to the cities oversight or should I say over spending of tax payers money.

The city has stated numerous times in the last few months that because of the taxes not received by the city from one of our local businesses that our Ambulance tax will go up (as it did) and other things that are currently provided by the city will not be provided anymore.

I would like to know how the city can legally charge people in the city limits for the ambulance when I have insurance and I'm also a member of Med Star. If this money was to be used for ambulance tax then why was it raised recently to compensate for the shortfall of the budget due to funds not being received for taxes by a business?

I see now that the city council has decided to double the real estate Tax for the same reason as stated above, really what's next tax the air we breathe?

I would like to add that all of this was done without the tax payers approval.

It's too bad that this is happening to this size of a town in Washington State, I get the feeling that we in Moses Lake are getting just like all the California cities with their taxes. Maybe it's time to move on.
