Scam warning: Green dot card

EPHRATA - Grant County Sheriff Tom Jones is warning resident about the return of the green dot scam.
According to Jones, someone claiming to be from a law enforcement agency calls a potential victim saying they have outstanding bench warrants for their arrest. The caller then says: To avoid jail time, the person must buy a Green Dot card and upload money on to it.
"This is a scam," Jones said. "People should not buy the card or give out credit card information."
Grant County residents who have been a victim of the scam should call 509-762-1160 to report the incident.
