About 6 p.m., Laura Carpenter, 32, of Moses Lake, was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Venture north on state Route 17, near Stratford Road, in Moses Lake.

As Carpenter slowed for traffic in front of her, she was rear-ended by Joseph Walkup, 32, of Moses Lake, who was driving a 1996 Cadillac Seville, according to the Washington State Patrol.

One of Carpenter's passengers, a 9-year-old girl, was injured and taken to Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake.
