OLYMPIA - Thirteenth District Rep. Matt Manweller has been chosen by his colleagues to fill the role of assistant floor leader for the Washington State House of Representatives Republican Caucus.

The assistant floor leader is a key member of the leadership team that helps coordinate the debate on the House floor to ensure a respectful and thoughtful dialogue is presented during debates. He will also be part of leadership strategies and policy decisions.

"After getting a feel for the legislative process in my first term, I am ready to take a more active role in the caucus and help shape the floor debate on priority issues in the upcoming session," said Manweller, of Ellensburg.

"It is a privilege to have the support of my peers, and I look forward to being an integral part of developing and implementing the agenda for the House Republican Caucus."

Manweller was elected to his second term in the House on Nov. 4.

The 2015 Legislature convenes on Jan. 12.
