Mattawa police look for man who eluded stop

MATTAWA - The Mattawa Police Department attempted on Nov. 24 to arrest a man with an outstanding warrant for several failures to appear.

Now police are looking for Adan Gomez Dominguez for the additional charge of eluding an officer. According to Police Chief John Turley, Dominguez bolted from the stop attempt and sped through a residential area at 65 miles per hour.

According to Turley, it was about 7:30 p.m. when Gomez Dominguez, also known as Adan Gomez Santiago and Saul Adan Ayerdis Gomez failed to stop for a police officer who recognized him while he was driving a black 1992 Honda Civic 4 door.

Turley said a short pursuit with emergency lights and siren ensued northbound on North Williams. Gomez's speed was registered on radar at 65 miles per hour, he said.

According to Turley, Gomez continued northbound, past Priest Rapids Drive and then stopping a short distance into an alfalfa field. He exited his vehicle and ran from the officer.

In the vehicle, Turley said, were three other subjects, one female adult, one male adult, and a six year old female who was not secured in a child safety seat nor restrained by a seat belt.

Gomez has an active warrant out of Grant County for failing to appear numerous times on several charges. A report of the incident will be furnished to the Grant County prosecutor's office, where charges of eluding a police vehicle; reckless endangerment and no valid operator's license without verifiable identification will be added.

In the process of eluding, Turley said, Dominguez entered a home without invitation. Turley said burglary is likely to be added to the charges.
