Margaret Kathleen Skone

Margaret Kathleen Skone (Kathy), 70, of Kennewick, passed away Monday, Nov. 24th, 2014 at her residence.

She was born in Blackfoot, Idaho on Sept. 9, 1944 to parents Kenneth and Margaret Hampton. They moved to Moses Lake in 1947 and the family ran the pre-development farm for the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation as the Columbia Basin irrigation project was being constructed. She graduated from Warden High School in 1961. After attending beauty school, she began working as a counselor at Job Corp in Moses Lake. She was married to Steven Skone in 1967, and made their residence in Warden. In 1991, Kathy moved to the Tri-Cities.

She enjoyed serving the Warden community in any possible way she could. She was a school board member for the Warden School District, a fair board director for the Grant County fair, a 4-H leader, a member of the Warden Women's Civic Club, scholarship supporter, and supporter of many youth sports programs. Kathy will fondly be remembered for all the holiday gatherings at the family cabin in the Chilliwist. For the last 18 years, Kathy has owned and operated Chico's Tacos in Kennewick.

She is survived by her three children and their families: Doug & Jennifer (Tanner and Kaden) of Warden, Erik & Cassie (Zack, Aubree and Riley) of Warden, and Stacey (Steven) of Kennewick. Also surviving are her sister Peggy (Tom) Felgar of Clinton and brother Steve (Tina) Hampton of Ogden, Utah. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ken in 1987 and Margaret in 1996, and her husband, Steven in 1986.

A visitation will be held at Kayser's Chapel of Memories Monday Dec. 1, 2014 from 5 to 7 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Warden at 11 a.m. with a remembrance lunch to follow at the Warden LDS church immediately following, all family and friends are welcome.
