The Lind-Ritzville/Sprague football team found out this bitter reality Saturday at Lions Field when its 38-game win streak was snapped in the 2B state semifinals against undefeated Okanogan, 34-0.
The Bronco offense, which had been up-and-down throughout the season, was stifled by the Bulldogs. LRS only had 80 total yards at halftime and committed four turnovers against Okanogan.
On the other side, the Okanogan rushing attack continued its dominant play. TJ Morris got the Bulldogs on the scoreboard with 9:25 to go in the first quarter on a 7-yard scamper.
After a LRS interception, Okanogan's Riley Prescott extended his team's lead to 14-0 on a 16-yard run.
Quarterback Benny Cate entered the action for the Bulldogs late in the first half, connecting on a 44-yard pass to Mason Guerette to give Okanogan a 21-0 lead at the break.
After a scoreless third quarter on both sides, the Bulldogs' Jalen Moses exploded for a 39-yard run early in the fourth quarter.
Cate found Moses for an 8-yard TD pass mid-way through the fourth to secure the 34-0 win.
Okanogan will play Napavine for the 2B state championship Dec. 5 at the Tacoma Dome.
