School starts this week throughout Columbia Basin
WILSON CREEK - It's not the official end, but as far as the kids are concerned summer ends this week when children around the Columbia Basin trek back to school.
School started (and summer ended) last week in Othello, where school opened Aug. 21. Kindergarten students start school Tuesday.
Wilson Creek schools open Tuesday for kids in first-grade through high school and for 3-year-old children in preschool. Four-year-old preschool students in Wilson Creek start school Wednesday. Kindergarten students start Thursday.
School starts Wednesday in Quincy, Warden and at Moses Lake Christian Academy. There's a "welcome back" open house at MLCA from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
School also starts Wednesday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic School in Ephrata.
All Moses Lake elementary students start school Wednesday, and so do students at Frontier and Endeavor middle schools. After that it starts to get complicated.
Chief Moses Middle School sixth-graders and Moses Lake High School freshmen also start school Wednesday. Seventh- and eighth-graders at Chief Moses start school Thursday, and so do MLHS sophomores, juniors and seniors.
Ephrata and Soap Lake students go back to school Thursday, with the exception of kindergarten and preschool in Ephrata and kindergarten in Soap Lake. Ephrata kindergarten and preschool parents are invited to parent conferences Thursday, and kindergarten classes start Sept. 4.
