ROYAL CITY - All you kids - and adults - who complain there is nothing fun to do in South County on a Saturday night won't be able to sustain that argument after Sept. 13.

The Royal Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) will sponsor a glow run. That's glow, as in you can choose to be lit up. The more you glow, the more the funds will flow - to the PTO.

"It's going to be fun, festive and exciting," the PTO's Jessica Stewart said.

And Illuminating.

Stewart knows. She has participated in charity glow runs in the Tri-Cities.

Proceeds from the first annual KNIGHT Run will benefit the RHS senior class and the PTO. They will come from a $20 entry fee per runner and the sale of glow accessories.

"We purchased $600 worth of accessories," Stewart said.

Twenty bucks will cover participation, a shirt and the first accessory, probably a bracelet. There will be a booth where runners may purchase additional accessories and snacks to support the seniors.

Checks should be made payable to Royal High School.

This will be a 5K run for runners 12 and over, but the minors will need a permission slip. Their course will pass through town. Runners 11 and under will be confined to the RHS track.

"There will be music during the sign-up period (7-8 p.m.), and there will be a gun for the official start," Stewart said.

The run will start after dark.

There is one catch, however.

Registrations must be received by Sept. 5 to receive your shirt/glow item on the day of the race. Those who register after Sept. 6, or day of race, will pay $25 and will receive their shirt at a later date.
