Quincy man dies in crash

GEORGE - A fatal crash on Thursday left a Quincy man dead and another Quincy resident in the hospital.

Passenger Donald Wyles, 58, of Quincy, died in the wreck.

According to police records, Carol Brown, 73, of Quincy, was driving her 2010 Honda Accord north on Beverly Burke Road.

Brown slowed down as she was approaching the intersection of Beverly Burke Road and state Route 281.

Brown failed to stop at a stop sign causing Ronald Gebhardt, 58, of Mount Vernon, who was traveling north on SR 281 in his 2005 Ford F350 pickup, to strike Brown's vehicle on the passenger side.

Brown was injured and taken by a helicopter to Sacred Heart Medical Center.

Brown's passenger was Wyles, who died at the scene.

Gebhardt was not injured and did not require medical attention.

Police say that all involved in the crash were wearing seat belts.
