Desert Dogs, River Dogs receive recognition
EPHRATA - Although neither the Desert Dogs nor the River Dogs were able to walk away with hardware at the 2014 Senior Babe Ruth League World Series, a few players from each team were still honored.
The Desert Dogs' Issac Wersland was named Batting Champion after posting an average of .500 during his team's run to the quarterfinals.
Wersland was also named to the All World Series team as a first baseman.
Fellow Desert Dog Austin Murdock was named to the All Defensive Team for third base.
For the River Dogs, Chandler Gribble was given the American Division's Sportsmanship award.
Cameron Walker received All World Series team honors as a pitcher. Against the Charleston Fighting Squirrels, Walker pitched a complete game one-hitter in a River Dogs 5-0 win.
Walked also recorded seven strikeouts in the contest.
Drew Loera and Timbo Taylor were named to the All Defensive Team. Loera for his play at first base and Taylor as a utility player.
The Alabama Rawdogs were able to repeat as World Series champions, beating Klamath Falls 9-4 in the final game.
Alabama's Paul Chisholm was the tournament's Most Outstanding Player.
