John E. Chandler
John E. Chandler, Sr., 78, long time Moses Lake resident passed away at Columbia Basin Hospital in Ephrata on August 7, 2014. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, August 23, 2014 at Lake City Foursquare Church, 333 N. Central Drive with Pastor David Chandler officiating. John was born September 5, 1935 in Willow, Arkansas; he was the youngest of 11 children born to Noah Chandler and Minnie Bell Caddy. John served in the United States Marine Corp from 1953-1961, 4 of those years were in the Marine Reserves. During his duty he earned his GED and became a Sergeant in 1957. He married Mary Smith on November 2, 1953 in Wenatchee, WA.
John did many things in his life including being a volunteer firefighter, president of the Eagle's Lodge, HVAC certified, and finally retiring from Moses Lake School District after 20 years. In his spare time he enjoyed wood working, hunting, fishing, camping, traveling and spending time with his family.
John is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Chandler, Moses Lake, WA; children Sherry L. Holes and Cindy L. Chandler, Moses Lake, WA; 7 grandchildren, John E. (Blair) Chandler III along with their children, John E. Chandler IV, Madison Chandler and Valen Chandler, Moses Lake, WA, Alia J. Mast and children Brian J. Alvarez of Glendale, CA & Diego X. Avalos, Moses Lake, Kristalle D. Mast, Moses Lake and children Adrian L. Hernandez and Elijah O. Mast, Warden, Jovan (Shannon) R. Hilliard and their children, Isaiah Garza, Mariya R. Garza and Avaiyah Hilliard, Mukilteo, WA, Jacob D. Bishop, Moses Lake, Chelsie M. Loeffler and children, Cylar Meseberg and Daxtyn Phelps, Moses Lake, Codi J. Loeffler and children Maveryck Meriwether and Jalie Padilla, Moses Lake.
John was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters, four brothers and his son, John E. Chandler, Jr.
To the man who meant the world to us:
Although you are gone we will always feel u near, watching over us, keeping us safe, and still holding us close to your soul. In our memory and hearts is where you will be guiding us through until we meet again. We will always love and cherish the man who started it all, the leader of our family, our husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
