MATTAWA - The Wahluke School District is starting the first year of the three-year Mattawa Makeover project, and there will be a big splash on Saturday, Aug. 16, during Comm"Unity" Days.

"We will be unveiling the first mural in front of the post office," Wahluke Superintendent Aaron Chavez said. "I hope to see you there. It's going to be exciting to see the first of many murals go up this school year."

During Mattawa Makeover, each school will be responsible for beautifying a section of the main street (Government Way). Principals and students from each school will be working with businesses in their section to begin providing murals, landscape projects, and cleanup throughout town.

"Matter of fact," Chavez said, "We have mural classes being taught at the junior high and high school that will help provide murals."
