MOSES LAKE - The Grant County Fairgrounds Rodeo Arena was filled to capacity as fans welcomed back the annual Moses Lake Demolition Derby.

Cars crashed, tires spun and dirt flew during the opening event of the Moses Lake Roundup.

The opening events was the time trials. Drivers skidded around the muddy track in hopes of posting a fast qualifying time for the heat races later in the night.

The trophy dash followed with Chad Cole grabbing first place, just edging Shawn Clausen and Tyson Olsen.

Nerves ran high during the Australian Pursuit portion of the event as drivers attempted to circle the track without allowing anyone to pass them.

Getting passed eliminates the driver from the competition.

The demolition derby served as the grand finale as cars collided with one another until just one was left running, 2013 winner Mike Bise.

The Rodeo continues through Saturday.
