EPHRATA - Early errors cost the Columbia Basin Desert Dogs as they fell 4-0 to Klamath Falls in the opening game of the Babe Ruth Senior World Series.
The Desert Dogs made four key errors in the first four innings and fell behind 4-0 in the fifth inning and were never able to score.
Starting pitcher for the Desert Dogs Jacob Lawson allowed four hits and three runs, and relief pitcher Luciano Reyes allowed two hits and one run.
The Desert Dogs had five hits but no runs, while Klamath made the most of their six hits, by scoring four runs.
Left fielder Drew Seater went 2-4 for the game while center fielder Cody Dykstra went 1-4 on the night. Joe Whisler, Kelly Grief and Chase Fernlund also went 1-4 for the Desert Dogs.
Early in the game the Desert Dogs looked poised to score, when they loaded the bases in the second inning. They left three runners stranded and were unable to score.
The Columbia Basin River Dogs also fell in the opening game, 2-7 to San Gabriel Valley, CA.
Nick Carion went 2-4 on the night and scored a run and Kevin Amersquita went 1-2 and also scored a run.
