Grant County Fair returns next week
MOSES LAKE - Basin residents will have plenty to do next week as the 2014 Grant County Fair officially kicks off Tuesday.
This year's fair, "Barn in the USA," runs Tuesday through Saturday at the Grant County Fairgrounds.
Country artist Kristian Bush, one half of the band Sugarland, headlines the fair's musical lineup this year. Bush performs at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Bryan Miller Stage.
The Doo Wah Riders, who have appeared in concert with big names such as Garth Brooks, George Strait and Faith Hill, also take the stage Tuesday night. They play at 6:30 p.m. at the Bryan Miller Stage.
Reserved seating tickets for Tuesday's concert are $10, and VIP tickets (includes a meet and greet and a catered meal) are $100.
Moses Lake band Dimestore Prophets are also on the fair's concert lineup. They play at the Bryan Miller Stage at 8 p.m. and again at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Cover Story plays at the same time and at the same venue the following night.
Cody Beebe and The Crooks perform at the Bryan Miller Stage at 8 p.m. both Friday and Saturday.
Fair goers can also catch Lake City Blues at the Caroline Fischer Stage at 10 p.m. Friday.
Other entertainers throughout the week include hypnotist Jerry Harris, ventriloquist Jerry Breeden, the one-man band of Eric Hanes, comedian juggler Paul Isaak and Penelope the Clown.
4-H and FFA activities start Tuesday morning with the 4-H FFA Horse Showmanship Demo at 7:30 a.m. The Livestock/Horse barns open at 8 a.m. that day.
Day 2 of fair features the 4-H and FFA Breakfast, which starts at 6 a.m. The 4-H and FFA dairy heifer sale starts at 9:30 a.m. Friday, followed by the market livestock sale and the market small livestock sale.
The carnival runs from 2 p.m. to midnight each day except Saturday, when the carnival opens at noon. All buildings and barns close at 10 p.m. each day except Friday and Saturday when they close at 11 p.m.
Admission to the fair is $8 for adults, $6 for students ages 13-17, $3 for children ages 8-12 and $6 for seniors age 62 and older. Children younger than 3 get in free. Family admission is $18.
Tuesday is Free Day, Wednesday is Senior Day (which brings admission for seniors down to $4) and Thursday is Hometown Hero Day.
Military, police or fire identification is required to get the discounted price of $4 that day.
Carnival wristbands are $22.
