Girl, 5, hurt in crash near Othello

OTHELLO - A 5-year-old Othello girl was seriously injured Tuesday night when the vehicle she was riding in rolled on state Route 26 about 14 miles east of Othello.
Aaliyah L. Vargas, was airlifted to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane after the driver of a 2002 Ford pickup, Jennifer L. Vargas-Rodriguez, 15, of Othello, drove off SR 26 about 6 p.m., causing the vehicle to roll and come to rest back on the road, according to the State Patrol.
Vargas-Rodriguez was also injured and transported by ambulance to Othello Community Hospital.
Aaliyah Vargas was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The State Patrol is still investigating the cause.
