SUNNYSIDE - Moses Lake (4-0, 6-2) has encountered little resistance to open Columbia Basin Big Nine play.

The Chiefs were able to defeat Sunnyside Tuesday, 11-0. The team's fourth win in a row.

So far, in four league games Moses Lake has outscored its opponents 61-2.

Head coach Dave Gregory felt a slight concern entering Tuesday's game as the Grizzlies had scored seven total runs in a doubleheader against second place Eastmont.

Those worries were quickly dispelled as Peyton Ries threw a no-hitter, striking out eight batters.

Moses Lake will go for the sweep today at home. First pitch of game one is scheduled for 4 p.m.

Around the Basin

Othello (10, 12-0) remained undefeated after two wins over East Valley (Yakima), 13-1 and 19-3. According to Maxpreps.com, the Huskies are ranked second in the state for the 2A classification.

Othello appears to be on a collision course with fellow unbeaten Ellensburg May 10, which may decide the CWAC title.

Quincy (0-7, 3-10) dropped its game to Cashmere, 10-0. The Jacks are tied for last place in the CTL with Tonasket.
