YAKIMA - Moses Lake High School junior Megan O'Neill had a record day on the links recently, shooting a personal best 95 at the Yakima Elks Par 74 course. The Chiefs finished second to Wenatchee in the field of six.

O'Neill's 95 was good enough for sixth place overall. Chiefs sophomore Mikayla Chavez shot a 97 and finished eighth and senior Emily Dennis' score of 100 put her in a tie for 11th in the field of 26.

With the finish, Moses Lake bumped its ranking from third to second in the Columbia Basin Big Nine, sliding past Eastmont High School.

Chavez, who has led the Chiefs for most of the year, continues to have a consistently solid season, never having shot more than 100 in any round. Her average round of 96.3 puts her in fourth place in the Big Nine. Dennis and O'Neill both have season averages of 103 ranking them 11th in the Big 9.

The Chiefs will travel to Three Lake Golf Course next Monday where Big 9 leader Wenatchee will host POD #5.
