Warden softball sweeps Ki-Be

BENTON CITY - Warden softball continued its torrid stretch, sweeping Kiona-Benton recently to remain undefeated.

The Cougars (4-0, 9-0) pounded Ki-Be in game one, 13-0, before closing out the sweep with a 6-2 win in the nightcap.

A week removed from setting a school record for strikeouts in a game, Aaliyah Enriquez pitched a no-hitter with 10 strikeouts.

Enriquez came within one walk of a perfect game.

In the first game, Allycia Gonzales was 3 for 3 with four RBIs and a home run. Enriquez helped her own cause with three RBIs and a home run of her own.

Andrea Contreras and BryLee Whitney were both 2 for 3. Whitney recorded three RBIs and hit a home run.

Lexy Pruneda totalled six hits with a triple during the doubleheader. Pruneda recently returned to the lineup after recovering from breaking a bone in her hand.

Gonzales and Enriquez continued to show off their power with a home run each against Ki-Be in game two.

Whitney also hit a home run in the nightcap.

Warden will host Columbia (Burbank) Saturday.

Around the basin

Othello (8-0, 10-0) remained undefeated with two wins against West Valley (Yakima), 18-3 and 9-2.

The Huskies are in second place behind CWAC-leading Ellensburg and travel to face East Valley (Yakima) Today before hosting Grandview April 26.

Ephrata (2-8, 3-9) dropped two games against first place Ellensburg, 15-0 and 13-2. The Tigers travel for a doubleheader against Prosser April 26.

Quincy softball (0-6, 3-9) lost its seventh and eighth in a row after losing to Okanogan, 22-4 and 12-2.

The Jacks face Cashmere today on the road before hosting Omak April 26.
