Moses Lake blows out Davis, wins 5th in a row

YAKIMA - The runs are coming in bunches for Moses Lake baseball.
After scoring 11 runs back-to-back in wins over Mead and Stadium to close the non league schedule, the Chiefs opened Columbia Basin Big Nine play with an 18-4 win against Davis.
"This gets us started off 1-0 in league and gets us one step closer to our goal," head coach Quintz Whitaker said.
Since losing the season opener to Mt. Spokane, Moses Lake (1-0, 5-1) has won five in a row and outscored its opponents 50-10 in that same span.
Chase Tunstall led Moses Lake with a game-high four hits and four RBIs.
Behind five strong innings from pitcher Hunter Boyd, Moses Lake opened up a 9-0 lead over the Pirates after three innings.
Davis cut into the lead and trailed just 10-4 before the Chiefs used an eight-run sixth inning to put the game away.
Boyd fanned a game-high five batters and threw 16 first pitch strikes.
Blake Springer also smacked four hits while Drew Loera and Erick Huberdeau provided three RBIs each.
Ryan Pena and Huberdeau were able to draw two walks each.
Moses Lake will go for the season sweep against Davis today at Larson Field. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
