Chiefs tennis falls to Davis
YAKIMA - The Moses Lake High School boys tennis team had a shot to get their first victory of the season, but fell to A.C. Davis and is 0-4 for the season.
The girls team also lost to Davis and is also 0-4 for the year.
For the boys, the match hinged on the #1 singles contest with the Chiefs Bryan Earl losing a tight contest to Davis' Daniel Carlton 4-6, 3-6. Head coach Rich Gregoire said Earl hit the ball well and played with patience.
Nolan Knapp had a strong effort in the boys #2 singles winning 6-4, 6-1.
Knapp trailed 1-4 in the first set before winning 11 of the next 12 points to secure the victory. Gregoire said that Knapp played with a tremendous patience in the match.
Pedro Barreras, #3 singles, recorded a point for the Chiefs with a long three-set win, 7-5, 5-7, 6-3.
Boys #1 doubles Tyler Ward and Chad Palmer ran their match record to 8-1 for the year as a doubles combo winning 6-3, 6-3.

For the girls team, the #1 and #2 doubles won their matches providing the only points for the Chiefs as they lost 2-5.
Kylee McKay and Carina LeFave won convincingly 6-0, 6-2. The pair of Juli Mendel and Ana Castano also dominated in their first time playing together, winning 6-1, 6-0.
