Man sentenced for selling meth in ML
EPHRATA - A Moses Lake man was sentenced to one year in prison and one year of probation for selling methamphetamine to a police informant in a school zone.
Homero Calderon Ruiz, 36, was arrested in November by Interagency Narcotics Enforcement Team and Moses Lake police officers in the driveway of his Sunny Drive residence.
When arrested, he had about 6 grams of methamphetamines in his pockets, packaged in two baggies. He admitted to selling narcotics in the past and said that he used meth on occasion.
When officers served a search warrant for his residence, they found $140 of pre-issued police buy money used to recently purchase narcotics from Ruiz. Two roommates living with Ruiz said that they overheard him talk about selling drugs.
Ruiz told officers he knew people in Moses Lake that would sell him a large amount of meth, but did not give any further details.
Officers also found and seized a cellphone that Ruiz used to sell narcotics, ammunition for a pistol and notes believed to be a drug ledger in the house.
Police reported several school bus stops within 1,000 feet of his home.
