MOSES LAKE - The Moses Lake Food Bank has gone more than a week without its truck.

Mick and Chris Hansen, of Moses Lake, decided to do something about it.

The couple is donating $1,000 toward a new truck, and asking Moses Lake residents to dig into their pockets and make something happen.

An account was established for community members to donate money toward the truck. Donators can bring their deposit receipt to the Moses Lake Food Bank at 1075 W. Marina Dr. to receive a tax deductible voucher from the non-profit, Community Services board member Stroud Kunkel said.

Area auto dealers, or community members with a three-quarter ton pickup for sale are also being asked to come forward with a price.

The truck was stolen March 22 from the building parking lot.

"We used that pickup seven days a week," food bank operations manager Peny Archer said.

For the last week, food bank volunteers have been using their personal vehicles to pick up food around the community to bring and redistribute at the food bank.

"This community has been so supportive," Archer said. "This is Moses Lake taking care of their own."
