Electric vehicle charging station comes to ML

| April 2, 2014 6:00 AM

MOSES LAKE - Electric vehicles will soon be able to re-charge in downtown Moses Lake.

Electrical Industry Group of Washington installed an Electrical Vehicle Charging station in Sinkiuse Square at the start of the year. The station, which can accommodate two electric vehicles at once, is now up and running.

The Moses Lake Chamber of Commerce will hold a dedication and ribbon cutting for the station this Thursday. The public is invited to see the new station during the event, which takes place at noon that day.

The chamber was able to establish a relationship with EIG during the retail recruitment convention in Las Vegas last year, which led to the donation of the charging station to the city of Moses Lake.

The chamber, along with sponsoring businesses, will underwrite the cost of the power for the initial introductory period.

Ryan Etheridge, of EIG, will be at the event as well to formally present the donation to the city.

The charging station will help promote the Moses Lake area to tourists travelling the state in electric vehicles, chamber director Debbie Doran-Martinez said.
