MOSES LAKE - A man suspected of murder in Moses Lake on Tuesday, September 17, was arrested in Spokane Saturday night.

According to Grant County Sheriff Tom Jones, United States Marshals apprehended Anthony J. Vasquez. He had been on the run since allegedly shooting Juan Garcia in a car in the parking lot of Airport Grocery Mart in Moses Lake.

Alleged getaway driver Alejandro Manzo was arrested Thursday by sheriff's deputies.

"I give a great deal of credit to the U.S. Marshals Service, as well as the special deputy marshals who are also members of the sheriff's office and Moses Lake police," Jones said. "Their efforts, coupled with the hundreds of tips from citizens, helped get Vasquez into custody and, for that, I thank everyone who worked to find Vaquez."

Moses Lake police and Grant County sheriffs deputies were called to the Airport Grocery Mart, 6389 Patton Boulevard NE, for a shooting incident Tuesday. They found Juan Jesus Garcia, 22 of Moses Lake, dead. A 23-year-old woman and a six-year-old boy were also in the car when the shooting happened.

"They were not injured but clearly traumatized," Jones said.

Authorities shut down the area while they looked for Vasquez, but they were unable to find him. The expanded search effort that ended in Spokane was launched.

At around 6 p.m. Saturday law enforcement officers received information that Vasquez was at a residence at 18100 E. Alki in Spokane Valley.

Officers from Spokane Police Department's Patrol Anti-Crime Team (PACT), SWAT and K-9 teams, along with the US Marshals, set up a perimeter around the house and worked to communicate with Vasquez in an attempt to get him to come out of the home and into custody safely.

Vasquez ran out of the backdoor of the residence and SPD K-9 quickly located him. He was apprehended by SPD SWAT officers at about 9:30 p.m. after a short foot pursuit.
