Initiative Measure No. 517 concerns initiative and referendum measures. This measure would set penalties for interfering with or retaliating against signature-gatherers and petition-signers; require that all measures receiving sufficient signatures appear on the ballot; and extend time for gathering initiative petition signatures. Initiative Measure No. 522 concerns labeling of genetically-engineered foods. This measure would require most raw agricultural commodities, processed foods, and seeds and seed stocks. Proposition No. 1
One-Year Operations Levy
The commission of Public Hospital District No. 4, Grant County, adopted Resolution No. 2013-3 concerning a proposition to finance and maintain the availability of essential health care services. If approved, this ballot proposition will fund a portion of the District’s maintenance and operating expenses, including replacing it’s existing diesel boiler heating system and related equipment with a more efficient and reliable system, by levying in 2013 for collection in 2014 a special one-year property tax in the amount of $500,000, resulting in an estimated levy rate, in excess of the District’s regular property tax levy, of $1.25 per $1,000 of assessed value. The Board of Directors of Wahluke School District No. 73 adopted Resolution No. 03-2013, concerning a proposition to finance educational programs, maintenance and operation expenses. This proposition would authorize the District to meet the educational needs of its students by levying the following excess taxes, in place of an expiring levy, on all taxable property within the District, for support of the District’s General Fund educational programs, maintenance and operation expenses:

Proposition authorizing regular emergency medical services property tax levy
The Board of Fire Commissioners of Grant County Fire Protection District No. 13 adopted resolution 13-01 concerning a proposition to establish an emergency medical services property tax levy. This proposition would authorize the board of commissioners to fund emergency medical services for its citizens by imposing a regular property tax levy of $.50 per $1,000.00 of assessed valuation for a period of six consecutive years to be collected beginning in 2014. The registration deadline for online registrations, mail-in registrations and transfers is October 7, 2013. Any qualified elector who is not registered to vote in the State of Washington may register to vote in person at the Auditor’s Office up to and including October 28, 2013
You can register or obtain registration forms at the Auditor’s Office, on line at www.vote.wa.gov, and Department of Licensing.
The Grant County Auditor’s Office, 35 C St NW, Room 203, at the County Courthouse, will be open so voters may obtain replacement ballots, drop off voted ballots, obtain provisional ballots, and use the Accessible Voting, at the following times:
Monday – Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM – October 16, 2013 –November 5, 2013
On Election Day only, November 5, 2013 7:00 AM – 8:00 PM
The following Drive-up Ballot drop locations are available from October 16, 2013 through election day and will be promptly locked on November 5, 2013 at 8:00 PM:

Voters needing additional information or assistance with voter registration forms or voting, may call (509) 754-2011, Ext 377 or 343. Voters unable to use the mail-in ballot, may use the Accessible Voting Unit available at the County Auditor’s Office.
Ballots require sufficient first class postage and must be postmarked by the day of election. Check with your local Post Office for deadlines to have your ballot postmarked properly.

The following public meetings will be held in conjunction with the processing and tabulation of election returns for the General Election to be held on November 5, 2013, in Grant County, Washington. The times, dates and locations and purpose of each meeting are:
October 18, 2013 – November 26, 2013 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Extended Hours, if necessary); Processing of Mail Ballots, checking signatures, open and processing ballots-Grant County Election Dept., Room 203, Courthouse, Ephrata, WA.
October 17, 2013, Logic and Accuracy Test, Grant County Election Dept., Room 203
November 18, 2013 10:00 AM to canvass the necessary ballots for tabulation (Tentative)
November 26, 2013, 10:00 AM to canvass the votes cast and certify the election.
