Car catches fire after accident, driver flown to Harborview

OTHELLO – A two-car collision four miles west of Othello on Sept. 8 caused one car to ignite and one victim to be airlifted to Harborview medical Center in Seattle

The collision occurred at about 5:23 p.m. on highway 24. No drugs or alcohol were involved. All victims were using safety restraints. Two were taken to area hospitals.

The victim flown to Seattle was Andres Alvarado Alamilla, 23, of Othello. His 2003 Cadillac CTS ignited on impact in the head-on collision.

According to the Washington State Patrol, Alamilla was eastbound on Highway 24 when his vehicle crossed the center line and struck a car driven by Hector A. Corona, 43, of Othello, westbound in the opposite lane.

Corona was transported to Confluence Health in Wenatchee. His 1999 Chevrolet Astrovan was impounded to Oscar's towing. It was totaled.

The third victim was José Z. Corona, 18, of Othello. He was a passenger in the Hector A. Corona vehicle. He was transported to Othello Community Hospital.
