Kennewick - It was a busy week of pre-season action for the Tri-City Americans, finishing 2-2 with a split of a pair of meetings with the rival Spokane Chiefs.

TC 4, Kootenay 1

In their first game back at the Toyota Center, the Americans broke through for their first victory, taking down Ice, 4-1.

The Americans pulled even at 1-1 late in the period with an Austyn Playfair goal at14:32.

At 12:50 of the second period Marcus Messier scored the eventual game-winning goal. Beau McCue added two insurance markers in the third period, scoring at the 11:24 mark and then adding an empty net goal at 19:39 of the third period.

Seattle 3, TC 2

With under three minutes remaining and a one-goal lead, Tri-City seemed to be on its way to another victory. However, two late goals by the Seattle Thunderbirds propelled them past the Americans.

The Americans got a Ryan Chynoweth power play goal at 2:23 of the second period. Mike Sauer added a second goal for the Americans just 1:13 later to give Tri-City a 2-0 lead.

Spokane 5, TC 3

The Americans were never able to score that elusive go ahead goal, dropping the final game of the Red Lion Hotels Pre-Season Tournament 5-3 at the hands of the Spokane Chiefs.

TC 2, Spokane 1

Ty Comrie and Brian Williams scored for Tri-City, producing all the offense it needed to defeat Spokane Chiefs at Eastern Washington University.

Comrie got the Americans off to a quick start, scoring 4:56 into the first period. Despite ample power play opportunities for both teams, the score remained 1-0 until the third period.

In the third period, Williams increased Tri-City's lead on a power play, scoring his fifth goal of the pre-season.

Despite outshooting the Americans 13-5 in the final frame, the Chiefs were unable to put any more pucks past Troy Trombley, and the Americans held on for a 2-1 victory.
