Short play festival at White Heron on Saturday
TRINIDAD - Studio4Seattle Destination Performance will bring its new short play festival: Summer ain't over – Don't put away your shorts, this Saturday, Sept. 21, to White Heron Cellars.
The show will start at 1 p.m. It will include eight new short plays.
White Heron is located on the hill above Trinidad. You may bring blankets and chairs to ensure your comfort.
Guests of this event will receive a print of an original artwork produced at the August Studio4Seattle Art Party. Tickets will be $15.
The short plays are:
ABRACADAVER by David Michael Sirois
In this hilarious new short by David Sirois (Miami, Florida) a grieving mother struggles to keep the reigns on her two sons and daughters as they gather graveside to lament their sister, The Amazing Nicky, shortly after the magic trick she performed failed to rejoin her two halves.
AVACADO by Jesse Putnam
As they sit down to make the grocery list, Stan prepares Ricky for a date with his neighbour whom he seems to be a little too familiar with. Seattle playwright Jesse Putnum places the emphasis on dialogue in this all out verbal romp akin to Beckett.
THE CURIOUS PARENTING OF BLUEBERRY PIPE by Micah Kolding
During their presentation on "Bring Your Parents to School Day," The Evil White Vixen and Super Agent Reginald Pipe are interrupted by Blueberry Pipe's teacher as she calls recess to discuss their daughter's unique disability. This short play is evidence of the brilliant and hilarious mind of Studio4Seattle member playwright Micah Kolding.
EX-COMMUNICATION by Matt Stabile
Trisha vents her frustrations when God shows up with a bottle of wine to sit down for a chat in this touching and funny look at faith, family and the unknown. South Florida playwright Matt Stabile crafts a moving reminder that we all need a lift now and again
THE RECORD by Deborah Zoe Laufer
As Jim's notoriety and endorsements grow from his record breaking stunt, newlywed Jen struggles to cope with the fact that her husband has become obsessed with his new found calling into the world of reality television.
THE WEDDING by Jenn Ruzumna and Lisa Every
Anne finds Lauren contemplating her decision to get married moments before she is due to take the plunge. Studio4Seattle member playwrights Jenn Ruzumna and Lisa Every give us a peek at the larger picture in this story of friendship and growing up.
VIRTUAL ALEX by Israel Horovitz
From the mind of master playwright Israel Horovitz, VIRTUAL ALEX takes us on a gut wrenching journey as Alex's father, Paul, meets Trixi, Alex's on-line girlfriend after his untimely death. The mutual discoveries illuminate the truths about the anonymous relationship after years of communication between Alex and Trixi.
YOU'RE LEAVING by Joey Fechtel
Brandon comes home after a long day to find that Alexander has made the decision to pack his bags. More is said in the silence between the two men in Studio4Seattle member Joey Fechtel's touching play about moving on
