Reader wants voters to be informed

| September 20, 2013 6:00 AM

Stupid people vote! John Kennedy put it like this, "The ignorance of one voter in a democracy impairs the security of all." We have millions of voters who vote without any real knowledge of the point of view and position of the cadidate they vote for. We keep re-electing the same bufoons who have become wealthy while holding their elected offices. They are the people who have implemented the polices that have put this republic in grave peril. Sadly for us the buffoonery is bi-partisan.

The predicament we are now in is causing more and more republicans and democrats to pull away and proclaim to now be "independent." I for one am glad to see this. It shows that voters are trying to become informed and not to blindly "pull the same wagon," merely because it has a big R or a big D on it.

I am also offended that these professional politicians like to call each other "leaders." They have lost sight of the fact that they are elected "representatives" of the people. I liken it to a horse being pulled one way or another because it has a painful bit in its mouth (force).

The last time these "leaders" passed a budget was in 2007. Do you try to maintain budgeting in your affairs? Of course, it's your money and you can't just print more when you want to spend more. We have been funding this country six months at a time for more than two years. Every six months there is knashing of teeth and much hand-wringing for public consumption. Followed by raising our credit card limit and the printing of more money. The national debt has doubled in the past eight years.

Our children and grand children deserve better from us.
