NOTICE: ANNOUNCEMENT OF APPLICATION FOR COVERAGE UNDER A GENERAL PERMIT TO DISCHARGE TO STATE WATERS

Evans Fruit Co., Inc. has filed an application for coverage under the Fresh Fruit Packing Industry National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Waste Discharge General Permit (the general permit), in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 90.48 Revised Code of Washington, Chapter 173.226 Washington Administrative Code, and the Federal Water Pollution Control Act as amended.

This coverage is for the discharge of drencher wastewater from Evans Fruit Co., Inc. - Fox CA located at 24580 S Hwy 243, Mattawa, Washington. The discharge will be approximately 2000 gallons per day (gpd) drencher to dust abatement and 1000 gpd drencher to land application. All discharges to be in compliance with the Department of Ecology's Water Quality Standards.

TENTATIVE DETERMINATIONS

Ecology proposes to issue coverage under the general permit to the above listed applicant to discharge to public water, subject to certain effluent limitations and special permit conditions. These determinations are tentative. A final determination will not be made until all comments received pursuant to this notice have been evaluated.

PUBLIC COMMENT AND INFORMATION

Any person interested in Ecology's action on this application may notify Ecology of their interest within thirty days of the last date of publication of this notice. The application and other related documents are available at Ecology’s Central Regional Office for inspection and copying between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., weekdays.

Any person desiring to present their view to Ecology regarding this permit application may do so in writing within thirty days of the last date of publication of this notice to be considered for the final determination. Any interested party may request a public hearing on the proposed permit within 30 days of the publication date of this notice. Ecology will hold a hearing if it determines that there is significant public interest. If a hearing is to be held, public notice will be published at least 30 days in advance of the hearing date. Any party responding to this notice with comments will be mailed a copy of a hearing public notice.
