Grant County lifts burn ban

| September 18, 2013 11:47 AM

EPHRATA — The Grant County Board of Commissioners and the County Fire Marshal announced this week that the county’s burn was lifted.

The ban was ended because of the changing weather, cooler temperatures and more moisture in the air, which reduces overall fire hazard. Some state burn bans are still in effect in Department of Natural Resources (DNR)-protected lands.

According to an earlier article in the Crescent Bar Chronicle, the burn ban was imposed Aug. 13 due to hot, dry, arid conditions, and a heavy load of dry grass and sage brush throughout the county.

The County Commissioners’ office, who issued the press release, said to remember the use of burn barrels and burning household garbage is prohibited.

For more information please contact the commissioners’ office at (509) 754-2011 ext. 428 or the Fire Marshal’s office at ext. 609. You can also visit www.waburnbans.net.
