WARDEN - The Warden Cougars opened their season with a dominating 6-0 win over the Quincy Jacks Thursday afternoon at home.

It didn't take long for the Cougars to score as Rebekah Richins was able to score off a BryLee Whitney assist in the 3rd minute.

The Cougars were able to beat Quincy's keep consistenly and tacked on three more goals in the 20th, 30th and 35th minute. Brenna Whitney added the second score followed by BryLee and Kasey Ozuna. Savanna Edson and Jennifer Mendoza assisted on the second and fourth goals, respectively.

Despite playing under the weather, Brenna added her second goal of the match in the 54th minute and Alexis Arredondo finished off the scoring barrage in the 70th minute.

"I was happy with the win," head coach Donnie Edson said. "For the most part I was fairly pleased with how we played."

Edson explained that the first match always helps gauge where the team is at fundamentally and even though the team played well the players still need to adjust to his new formations.

"Today we had a little bit of problems with some spacing," he said. "We just missed getting the ball.

The Cougars open South Central Athletic Conference play Sept. 21 when the team travels to face Naches Valley.
