Gertrude 'Trudy' McCuen

| September 14, 2013 6:00 AM

Gertrude "Trudy" McCuen, 87, longtime Ephrata, Wash. resident made her crossing on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 in her home in Ephrata.  She was born July 18, 1926 in Riverside, Calif. to Hazel and Ernest Stone.

Gertrude moved from Portland to Ephrata 30 years ago to be closer to her beloved children and grandchildren. She worked at the Travelodge and Columbia Basin Hospital before retiring.

She loved her large family, enjoyed making quilts, stuffed animals and Raggedy Ann's and Andy's. She didn't go anywhere without a crossword puzzle book. She loved gardening, growing roses and feeding the birds. Her idea of entertainment was watching a "Gaither" video, reading her Bible and listening to it on tape.

Our beloved mother and grandmother will be sorely missed on this side, but we know she is now walking with her Savior and enjoying the reunion with family and friends who have crossed before. Her desire was for her family and friends to join her at the glorious reunion over yonder.

Gertrude had eight children and always bragged about having over 50 grand, great and great-great grandchildren!

Gertrude is survived by her children Judi Albertson of Quincy, Wash., Wandah Fowler of Myrtle Point, OR., Connie and husband Andy Dormaier of Ephrata, Wash., David Hawkins and Rick Hawkins, both of Portland, OR., Sharon and husband Ken Mastel of Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada.

She was preceded in crossing by infant son Kenneth Lee on January 29, 1954, son Clarence Hawkins and son-in-law Don Fowler.

A private family gathering will be held at a later date.

Family and friends are invited to leave a note or message and sign her online guestbook at www.carverfamilyfuneralhome.com

Arrangements are in care of Carver Family Funeral Home, Moses Lake.
