Quincy hosts Farmer Consumer Awareness Day
Quincy will hold its annual Farmer Consumer Awareness Day this weekend. The event features a number of activities, including a tractor pull.
QUINCY - Basin agriculture will be placed in the spotlight this weekend during Quincy's Farmer Consumer Awareness Day celebration.
The annual event will feature agriculture tours, a parade, various booths and exhibits and live entertainment, among other attractions.
To kick off the weekend, White Heron Cellars will host a Chef Extravaganza event Friday night. Three chefs will prepare various dishes using all local ingredients, according to the winery's website.
Alternative Rock band Norrish Reaction will play during the event, which begins at 6 p.m. Tickets are $25 per person.
White Heron Cellars is located at 23832 Fine Wine Road NW in Quincy.
A 6:30 a.m. air balloon launch at Twin Firs Turf signals the start of Saturday's events. The Lions Club will serve breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m. at the Quincy High School cafeteria.
The Farm-to-Market 2k and 5k races take place at 8 a.m. at Mountain View Elementary School. Registration for the races take place at the Quincy High School track at 7 a.m.
Geology videos and presentations begin at 8:30 a.m. at the high school's performing arts center. Presentations run throughout the day.
At 9 a.m., food booths and exhibits open at the high school. They will remain open until 4 p.m.
A tractor pull, volleyball tournament and potato-peeling contest are also on the list of scheduled events that day.
The event's Grand Parade will take place downtown at 10 a.m.
Agricultural tours start at 11 a.m. Participants can sign up for tours in front of the high school at the bus turn-around.
Participants can end the day with the Quincy Valley Balloon and Wine Festival at Twin Firs Turf at 5 p.m. There will be a fireworks show at dusk.
A Sunday balloon launch will end the festivities at Twin Firs Turf at 6 a.m.
