ROYAL CITY - Royal's Parent Teacher Organization is busy kicking off the school year with several activities, including two football blackout games at which a new school spirit t-shirt will be introduced.

The PTO has created a new t-shirt - "WE ARE ROYAL" - to sell this fall, designating the Sept. 20 and Oct. 11 home football games as Blackout Nights.

"We did this last year, and it was a fun way to spread school spirit," PTO President Katie Allred said.

At these games, if a fan wears a spirit t-shirt, he or she receives a ticket coming into the gates, and the name is entered in a drawing. At half-time there will be a drawing for some fun prizes.

The last day to order spirit t-shirts will be Sept. 30. PTO memberships are $10, and those are available throughout the year.

"Whether a person wants to be involved or not, it's a great way to support the PTO and give to our kids," Allred said. "All of the money we raise goes back into education, supporting our teachers and our schools."
